01:16 What’s up guys? Welcome back to another episode of The Think Different Theory. My name is Josh Forti and I am so excited for today’s episode. I feel like I say I’m excited for every episode, but I love it, because I really am excited every single day. I’m pumped up, I’m fired up. Doing this podcast is one of my favorite things to do ever. I absolutely love creating content for this. And, even when we’re traveling, this… like I said, it’s part of the reason I’m continuing this, cause I want to be consistent with it and because I just… I love doing it. And, I really appreciate all you guys listening and I really hope that this betters your life. And I want you to know, that when I put out these episodes I’m going to continue to remind you of this. Okay? When I’m putting out these episodes, sometimes I use, you know, catchy headlines.

I’m only putting out things that I truly believe are going to do better your life, and the content here… well, sometimes it may seem repetitive of certain things, or like, “Oh man, I’ve heard that before.” You’ve probably heard it before because it was important. And if you haven’t heard it, what I am saying, I’ve thought about a lot, and I’m putting out ideas in the world that I genuinely believe are going to help you, and I hope are going to challenge you to think differently, to question the things that you know, and ultimately better your life, and make the world a better place. So please understand that these… I don’t take these episodes lightly at all, and I know I say that a lot, but seriously, like I really believe that this can better your life if you just apply this, and actually take action to some of the stuff that we’re talking about, particularly here today, which I’m very excited about.
02:36 I feel like it’s been a while since I’ve recorded an episode and it really hasn’t. I’ve been staggering these out, especially with travel or whatnot, but so much has happened in the past few days and especially the fast… past few weeks. I feel like I have so much to catch you guys up on, because I have not recorded an episode yet in Australia, and I’m in Australia right now, and it’s so exciting and so fun, but let… Real quick, today we’re going to talk about how to actually go and action, and how to actually go live what you need… or what you know you need to go live. But, before I do that, I want to catch you up on things, but I want you to know like that’s my little hook for you. Okay? I want to give you examples on how this is done and then I want to actually give you actionable steps on how to go and do this.
03:16 Actually five actionable steps. They’re going to help you go and take action on the things that you know you need to be taking action on in your life. But for whatever reason, you can’t seem to get where it is that you want to get there. You can’t seem to go and be consistent on that one thing. You can’t seem to go and never start applying the things that you know you need to know and apply in your life. And we are going to talk about that here in just a second. So make sure to stick around for that. But I do need to catch you up on some things here. Got to catch you up on the world trip. Got to catch you up where we’re at, what’s happening because it has been a crazy, crazy day. So just weeks. So we left Hawaii, we finished up in Hawaii.
03:50 Um, we ended up flying out on a Wednesday from Hawaii and Lee landed in Australia on a Thursday and we actually, we did it. Awesome. And it’s interesting because the way the earth rotates, we flew from Hawaii to Australia, so we left on a Wednesday at noon ish. And we actually, I think it was two-ish, two o’clock in the afternoon and we ended up getting into, no, it was noon. I can’t, I don’t remember. It was like noon or two or something like that. But we ended up getting into Sydney, Australia, um, like eight o’clock at night the following day. So in a time zone side of things, we ended up traveling like it would have been like 30 hours, but really the flight was only about 11 hours or so. And so we were on the plan I think for a total of like maybe 12 but we ended up traveling like 30 hours ahead ahead of us because we flew into like the reverse time zone.
04:47 So we flew against the rotation of the earth. So time sped up a lot. And so the jet lag was actually not bad at all and we didn’t actually plan that. It just happened to work that way. So if you’re flying to Australia, make sure to fly in from Hawaii because seriously, like we just stayed up the whole flight. We were dead tired, exhausted by the time we landed. But that’s going to be true anytime you travel that much. And then we just went to bed that night, woke up almost no jet lag the next morning and the first our first full day in Australia, which was really awesome. We had a great first day. Uh, we actually ended up going to a beach there. I want to talk about that here just a second, but that’s kind of what happened. But we finished up in Hawaii.
05:20 Um, we spent the last three days in a Waikiki Honolulu area. Again, just because I needed to get some work done. It’s really convenient. There’s a lot of people there and there’s like this huge mall, but I need to get some work done. And it was convenient because we didn’t have a car. We’ve had a car every leg of our journey up until this point. That’s one thing that like, I just really like Leah likes. I mean like we just really like having a car, a vehicle, because we drive so much. I love driving in the first place. And so that’s just something I like to do and all the places that we want to go, you just get to get to see so much more. But in Honolulu, in the Waikiki area where we stayed the last three nights, um, I’m really focused on work right now.
05:55 And, um, one of the things that I’ve actually kind of struggled with on this trip is not so much taking time off, but like kind of taking time off. Not because I feel guilty about taking time off, but just because I’m a producer. I’m a a worker and I’ve talked about this before. Like I like work. I really like what I do and I don’t need long vacations like a week or two and I’m, I’m ready to go back. And so it’s funny because about halfway through the second week of Hawaii, which by the way, Hawaii was like literally the best two weeks of my life. Seriously. Absolutely incredible. If you ever get a chance go, it’s absolutely amazing. But I was ready to get back to work. I’m like, I’m in the, I’m in the work mode side of things. Like I was ready to be like done with the world trip even.
06:35 It was pretty intense. Um, and obviously work, we’re still going on the trip and some things are changed there. But, um, we’re, you know, we’re still going on, you know, and everything and we’re Australia now, but, uh, I was like ready to get back to work. I was like, no, it’s, it’s, it’s work time. Let’s go. And so I actually took a couple of days in Honolulu, got some work done, got caught up with everything. We’re working on a super cool project with Brad GIM and his team, Brad Gabe as you know, maybe you guys are, you know, new listening to the podcast, but he has the most downloaded episode on the podcast ever by a lot. He was episode 100 and it’s all about money and finance and his team, him and his team there are just absolutely amazing over at cashflow tactics. Him, Jimmy and Ryan and we’re working on a super cool project that’s coming out very beginning of 2020 with them.
07:15 Um, so I got caught up with some, some stuff there and just all sorts of like catching up with the team and the content creation side of things. And, um, one of the things that I’ve really been learning and focusing on learning is, you know, I’m searching for truth and trying to figure out all these different things. But one of the things that I’ve really been doing is, um, really focusing on the things that are most important in my business and in my life because time is now limited, especially with travel and all the places and adventures that we want to go. I mean, these costs money, right? So I want to be producing there in that time. So I need to focus on things that are important in business. But I also want to just focus on things that are going to make the most positive impact and have the most leverage.
07:50 And I talked about this in an earlier podcast episode. You want to pull and focus on the things that are going to give you the biggest amount of result for the least amount of effort or time having to put into that. And that’s not being lazy, that’s just being smart. And so one of the things that I’ve really been focused on, especially towards the end of Hawaii and, uh, the beginning of this Australia trip and this whole trip around the world now is focusing on those things and figuring out where specifically I can put my time to leverage the most amount of good and, uh, leverage the, the highest amount of results and the thing that’s going to help you guys most change the world, most, grow the business mode and, and help me develop personally as a human the most. And so, um, I, I sat down in the last couple of days in Hawaii, I was planning different things out and really made some more solidified plans for the business as we’re going to be able or as I’m going to be traveling and what specifically that’s going to look like.
08:41 And so I spent the last couple of days in Honolulu that, uh, they’re doing that and I’m actually excited. I’m going to share a couple of those things here with you here now, today, as you guys know, I’ve got the book that I’m going to be writing now as well. Uh, so I’m starting to pick back things up. People were like, you know, Josh, take it easy. Go and explore on this trip. Like I want to, but I’m just, I’m a go getter. I’m an action taker and I don’t have time to relax. I want to get stuff done and to actually go out there and do that. And so, um, I, one of the things that’s really important to me is leading by example and actually going and living and doing the things that I say that you should do as well. And I really try to do that in my life.
09:15 And one of the things that I oftentimes really struggle with is if I know something, but I’m not living it in my own life now, I have a hard time sharing about it. Um, and so for me, like I actually have to be living it. And so a lot of the times when I talk about I’m either living or have lived, um, because I like to lead by example. And so one of the, the things that I’ve been focusing on is, okay, I want to show people how to actually go and leverage their time wisely and focus on those big pieces. And it’s, I want to share with you what we’re doing and the reason behind that, and it’s got kind of some of the changes in the direction that I’m going with everything because I’ll tell you guys my, my original plan as far as what this world trip was going to look like is so radically different than what I am actually gonna end up doing with it even just now.
10:02 And we’re only like a month in like it’s amazing how God works and how things change and how like things just fall into place as time goes on. And that’s actually going to play a big role into what we’re gonna talk about here in the second half of this podcast episode is just, you know, by going out and taking action and like having things figured out along the way. But I tried to have so many things set of like what the content was going to look like and what Instagram was going to look like and what the podcast were going to look like and all these different things. And none of it’s really capping, like it’s totally different and it’s still in the right direction. But, um, it’s just really cool to watch this all evolve and grow. So I want to share this with you to, to hope that Hey, you can help me on this.
10:33 And because there is a part here where you can help and also then that you can go and see it, this as an example and then go and live it in your life because it makes all the difference in the world if you just go and take action. All right, so what does that mean? What changes am I doing? What have I noticed that are the highest leverage points for me? And how does this affect you and how can you learn about this as well? Well, one of the things that I think is really important is to always be moving forward towards what your goal is. And I’ve had a really hard time pinpointing specifically the direction or the thing that I want to be about and I’ve been praying about that and thinking about that and just like really like, okay, where’s like, where’s my head at?
11:11 Where do I want to go? And like, how do I want to teach this? Because I love sales. I love social media, I love creating content. I love speaking on stage. I love teaching people how to talk and be confident in all these different things. And as I was sitting there praying about it and thinking about it, I was talking to Leah about it and we were bouncing ideas off each other’s heads. This whole idea of communication came up and the this idea that communication involves everything that we do and I believe that communicating effectively is one of the most important things that you can do in life is the most important skill, I think is the most valuable skill that you can have because think about it. Okay. Communication involves everything that we do. When you’re creating content, you are communicating. When you’re doing sales, you are communicating.
11:54 If you’re doing a webinar or writing copy or doing any form of marketing, you are communicating. If you’re preaching, you’re communicating. If you’re teaching, you’re communicating. If you’re, you know, going on a date, like anything that you do, it’s all communication and communication is something that my entire life I have said that is so important to me. My number one love language, if you don’t know what the love languages are, there’s five of them, but my number one love language is um, is words of affirmation, which is the communication love language, which means the thing that means the most to me when someone does is communication. When they communicate to me and I’m, I’ve been very blessed with the, the gift of being able to communicate well. People have told me this my whole life, particularly recently with the podcast and the live streams that I’ve done in the content that we create.
12:41 They say, Josh, like, you know how to communicate really well. And I’m always like, well, I don’t understand. It’s really not that difficult. I believe everybody can do it, but some people is like a foreign language to you don’t if you’re an introvert or you just don’t have experience communicating. And so communication is the direction and focusing on communication and all the different parts of that is the direction that I’m going to go with The Think Different Theory. And I think that that’s where I want to be, what I want to be about. And obviously we’re going to test that in the market and kind of see what messaging and what specific messaging is going to work best. But for you guys, you’re the podcast listeners, you’re a loyal audience. I know that you’re going to be listening and I want to, I’m trying to share the behind the scenes of how I got to this point, right?
13:19 And so I simply took, I was always looking externally, I was like, okay, like Oh, I can be the social media guy or I can be this hack person or I could be this strategy person. But then I thought, well, what’s just a market? Like what is the thing that encapsulates what I do? And I took the limits of business off of it. I took the limits of expectations off of it and I got down to this point where I’m like, I just really like to talk to people. I really like to communicate to people and I really genuinely believe that so many of the world’s problems can be solved if we could all could just communicate better. And so that’ll probably start in the business realm and expand out. I’m not exactly sure where that’s gonna go yet, but I know that I want to start really studying and putting out content and really be coming a thought leader in the communication aspect side of things.
13:59 And so I sat down and I looked at this and I went, okay, I’m really excited for this because there are so many different ways that God could use this. And then I can go with this. And I’m just, I’m so excited and fascinated because I believe that as I’ve been studying communication more, even just a little bit over the past couple of days and weeks, like if you can communicate well, it can change your entire life. I was reading some Greek philosophy, actually talking about Socrates and Plato and Aristotle and there was something a, there was a story about Socrates and one of the students that was in there and how the student literally learned through Socrates is teaching like how to communicate and how to speak and how to get his way in anything and be super persuasive. And he basically felt like he could do anything that he wanted in life because he could just talk his way out of it.
14:42 Now I’m not saying that that that’s how you should use it. That’s obviously a negative way to, to use this. But communication, the ability to articulate well is so incredibly powerful. And I think that’s, that’s all what all we’re really doing right? When you are focused on, you know, trying to change someone’s belief systems in sales or in webinars, when you’re focused on, you know, really trying to sell something or, or build a brand or get your message across, it’s really just the way we articulate that message, which all comes down to communication. So I’m very excited to share this with you. And so as I sat down, I’m doing some work there in Hawaii and I’m trying to figure out all the different things. I’m like, okay, now that I’ve got this idea, and by the way, if you’re still struggling for that thing, keep looking, keep asking yourself questions.
15:23 Always. I could do a whole podcast episode on this and I’m just ranting now, but like keep asking yourself questions, keep searching. This might not be my final thing, but you guys are in the process of watching this and I’m really, really excited for this. So keep watching. I mean I’m keep asking questions, keep questioning. You will find your thing if you don’t give up and if you keep questioning, so here I am, I have this thing. I’m like, all right, here we go. This is what I want to do. Now how do I apply exactly what I’ve talked about on the podcast, exactly what I believe, which is the highest leverage points. Literally going out there and having the highest leverage points possible to, to get the most amount done with the time that I’m spending on doing it. Right. And so I looked at Instagram content and right now we have Instagram and Facebook posts going up and we’ve got the blog and the emails that are going out in the podcast.
16:12 Like there’s a lot of content, a lot of things that go out. And so I looked all that. I’m like, okay, what has always been and what do I know will be a very, very high yield focus when it comes to content and the type of content that I want to create. What’s going to build a community? What’s going to allow me to be myself? What’s going to allow me to go deep? What’s gonna allow me to really have an impact to grow community, to grow a brand? And I looked at Instagram and I looked at the blogs and I looked at, you know, kind of everything that we were doing and I was like, you know what? Honestly, I believe in Facebook groups. Honestly, I believe and I that pays book groups are incredibly powerful and one of the best platforms in the world to create a community of likeminded people on and Facebook live is my style.
16:54 Raw content. Facebook content. Facebook is that platform that I know and while I love Instagram, Instagram really isn’t that place that’s going to allow me to go deep to share my thoughts, to go live and really get that quality person that I’m looking for. And so I’m very excited today to announce that we are opening up a Facebook group and I’m going to link it down in the comments and I’m going to just, I’m not going to say the name of it, I’m going to say that it’s communication focused simply because the name could slightly change. Um, with some wordage. A verb is we’re going to test a couple things out. Um, so it’s a communication group is very communication focused and if you’re listening, we’re going to link the direct link down to do it down in this episode, um, for it to where you can go and access that without a problem.
17:38 So just go down, look at it. If you’re in your car right now, whenever you’re pulled over next, just go out there and click on that and, and request to join. But I’m going to be opening up this Facebook group and this Facebook group has a very, very specific purpose to it. It’s all about communication and for me to document and really share with you my study and research of communication and how to do it effectively. How to get people to buy your products, how to get people to believe in your message, how to talk to your, your spouse or your significant other more effectively. How to go out there and get your idea across to someone how to argue. I’m sorry, how to debate well, how to research well, how to listen well, you know, I kind of do all the things that are evolving around communication and we’re going to have an episode here in the near future.
18:18 I’m really excited about this one that’s actually going to go and break down all the different parts of communication and all of the different parts of um, you know, what it means to communicate and the definitions and all that. This is just not the episode to do that because I’m announcing the Facebook group and then I’ve got some really actionable content here for you guys, but we have a Facebook group now and it’s launching today at, which I’m very excited about. You’ve probably seen some of the emails that are coming out to it are seeing the posts on Facebook and with this I’m actually going to be shutting down my other main group, so for those of you that have been following me for awhile or maybe you know, we have Facebook groups out, 30,000 members called social media for entrepreneurs, we’re actually going to be shutting that one down.
18:53 I’m not going to be doing any more content in there. I’m simply because that’s not where my passion is and that’s not where I believe the direction of the company is going to go. I don’t believe that that’s best for think different theory. I don’t believe that it’s best for you guys. I believe that this new direction with our communication group and the focus on communication is the direction that I want to go. And I believe that it’s what’s best for us and I believe that is where God’s calling me. And so, um, we’ve made some posts in that group sending people over to the new group. Uh, the new group went live today. I’ve probably already gone live in there. So go check that out. Make sure to join a member. We’re trying to get as many members in there as possible really quickly.
19:29 And the reason is is because we have a super special training that I have coming for you guys next Thursday. I can’t tell you what it is yet because it’s not announced yet, but we have a super special training coming. I’ve kind of hinted at it and it’s really going to go right along with the business side of this communication, the kind of the business, the funnel, world sales world of this that’s going to absolutely blow your guys’ mind. We’re going to have probably a couple a hundred people there. We have a guest speaker coming in to help teach, like it’s going to just be absolutely amazing, but that’s going to be taking place inside the Facebook group. It’s a place for us to discuss ideas for us to learn about communication, learn about sales or about business, learn about personal development and really the direction of think, different theory in what we’re doing.

You know, usually one that’s one more person than we had before and that’s somebody else’s life that we can change and we take everybody very seriously. So the reason I say this to you and the reason I’m saying, okay, like I’m focused on communication and um, and I’m telling you all this is because I want you guys to understand that you don’t need to have it all figured out. You don’t need to go and have everything order in your life in order to take action, move forward.
20:50 I’m literally documenting in the process of when this is happening. I don’t know what the results of this is going to be. This could be a major, major flop. I don’t expect it to be, but it could be. But I’m documenting this so that you guys know, Hey, I’m not ready to do everything that I’m doing. I have no idea how this is going to turn out. I don’t know all the different pieces, but I have a mission. I have a goal, and we’re gonna change the world. And if you’re going to be part of that, you’re gonna come along with me. You’re going to get in that Facebook group and you’re going to go and you’re going to subscribe to the podcast and you’re going to listen and you’re going to go and do this because that’s what it means to change the world.
21:21 And so I’m sitting here and I’m going, okay, this is what I’m doing. This is a bad time for me to be planning all this stuff. Guys, I’m traveling right now. I’m overseas. Time zones are a big hindrance on a lot of things I’m getting on flights. Some of the meetings that I have to set this up with my team are like right before flights. Like there could be a much more ideal situation for me to go do this and I could wait three months until I’m back home. I could wait six months. But then there’s that much of my time that I wouldn’t have spent learning on this. There’s that much of my time that I wouldn’t, or take an action and for what? So it’s a little bit more perfect. So you’ve got to learn to go and take action. You’ve got to learn to go out and do that, and that’s the point that I’m going to be making here, here in one more second with this, but I want to set the tone for these five steps that I’m going to give you.
22:05 They’re pretty practical. They’re pretty straight forward and they’re going to help you go and take action on the things that you know you need to take action on. But I want you to know that I’m living this. When you invest in something with me, whether that’s a a book for 20 bucks or 30 bucks when it comes out, whatever it’s going to be, whether that’s a a freebie, whether that’s a $97 product or $1,000 product, whatever it is that I’m still, or even a 5,000 or $10,000 product, whatever it is that I’m selling, whatever it is that I’m doing, whether there’s money involved or not, I’m living this and I’m proof that this can actually work and that you can actually change your life. You want to know how you can go out and make a difference in the world. You want to know how you can fundamentally radically change your life.
22:44 You can just follow exactly what I’m doing because I’m trying to be a living example of someone that’s actually showing you in real time what it takes to go and do these things. I fundamentally believe that communication is the one of the most important skills you can possibly have in your life, if not the most important. So what am I doing? I’m teaching you about it. I’m showing you what I’ve learned about it. I’m not just keeping it for myself because I want you to go and succeed about that, and I hope you remember that in the future, right? I’m partnering with the right people so that you can go and learn from their expertise to cut down their learning curve. Right? And that’s what it’s all about. And so I’m very excited to join the Facebook group, and that’s what I do on my last couple of days in Hawaii.

When you commit to something, you have to cut other things out because now you’re putting intentional effort into that thing, so now I have to go and I have to go, okay, what things can I cut out that I can no longer do that and then I have to get rid of that.

I’ve done blogs, I’ve done eat daily emails, I’ve done the Instagram stuff and I spend a lot of time producing content for Instagram and I had an Instagram content team and I couldn’t figure out the right thing and I couldn’t figure out the right thing and I spent a lot of time growing my Instagram account all a lot of time growing it, but right now that’s the thing that’s going to be going on pause for a little bit while I still be posting on there every now and then just to keep it active.

But I’m going to make that sacrifice right now on my Josh Forti page, my main Instagram account page with all the quotes because I don’t have time to focus on that because I’m going to be really putting my time into this other thing, the Facebook group and learning about communication and building the best possible podcast around that ever. Um, and the Instagram come later. And so if you’re following on there, I’ll still be active in there. I’ll still be checking DMS every now and then. My travel account will still be active. For those of you that are following the travel account, we’re still going to be posting updates on there. So that’s not going to change. I’m just, because that’s not very difficult. And, and we like doing that anyway and Leah likes to edit all the pictures and stuff, so that’s not going to change a whole lot.
25:22 But the quote side of things, the blog side of stuff, the blogs will still kind of get posted and my team is going to be repurposing content for the blogs on the, on the, uh, uh, think different theory website. But I’m not going to be writing every single one of those personally anymore. I’m going to be sharing or my team is going to be sharing very valuable content about different things on there, but I’m not going to be the one doing all that because I’m putting my focus into this area now. I want you to understand this is not easy for me. I’m a control freak. I really am. I like things to be perfect. I have struggled with thinking that I’m the only one that can do things for a long time. I get that and so some of the things I have to pass off like writing blog articles, those are going off to my team.
26:04 They can do that. Will it be me writing everything and will it be the exactly the way I want it? No, it’ll still be amazing quality because I know my team and I trust them a lot and they’re amazing, but it’s not me. I had to let go of that something that I had to cut out my Instagram stuff, my time that I spent on there is doing. You probably already noticed like that’s really, really died down. Why? Cause that’s something I had to get rid of it. That’s the sacrifice that I have to make. So sometimes you have to sacrifice good things in order to get to the great things in order to accomplish the big vision goal. Yeah, you might be making $10,000 a month on something, but if that’s holding you back from 50,000 or a hundred thousand why are you doing it?

And so you have to make those to be able to go all in and take action on thing that you’re doing and really listening to that, that gut feeling inside of you of doing what it is that you know you should be doing. Um, I want to talk to you now and make a shift over to the actual actionable steps about how to go out there and take action in something and actually stick with it. All right. And I got to preface this by telling you a story and giving a shout out to someone that is absolutely just doing this right now. I am in Australia right now and one of the things that I’m really focused on doing is learning about culture and learning how people worship and things like that. And so we’re going to different churches and we went to a church and outdoor church actually in Hawaii and now we’re here in Australia, this, um, this week.
28:37 And so we went to an Australian church and um, I made a post on Facebook about this. You may have seen it, this was a over a week ago now. Um, because of, you know, the delay, but God really spoke to me in that church service. And as I walked in, I mean, just the music, the energy, it was also very good and uplifting. And if you’ve never had a, like a personal experience with God where he just really, really speaks to you, um, it’s unlike anything that you can ever really understand. And, and I just, it’s an amazing, amazing church service today and God really, really spoke to me. And having this relationship with a, an infinitely knowledgeable creator that’s all loving is just so, so super cool. Um, but that’s not the purpose of this. Um, I was there, I was at church and I had that experience.
29:22 And then listen to the pastor preach and, you know, going up there and going through the, the sermon notes, one of the things that God really spoke to me that I just felt really, really strongly on myself, uh, is Josh, you have to actually live it. You can’t just say it. You just say you believe something. You can’t just say something as a good idea. You can’t just say you’re about something, you actually have to go out there and do it and that’s what’s actually gonna make a difference in the world. That’s what’s actually gonna change your life. One of the things that really stood out to me during this time is that the key to growth is change, right? If we want to grow, if we want to actually go out there and become better, we need to change. And the key to change is action.
30:12 And so if I say that I’m going to be about something, I actually need to go take action in that area in order for me to go and have the growth to see the results in that area. And one of the biggest things that people struggle with, myself included is they can’t seem to stick to things. And there’s reasons behind that. I want to walk you through some of those things and give you these actionable tips that I personally have done that have helped me in so many others that have applied them. Because we have to understand is like you do need to take action. But the reason people are so crippled by taking action is because they want to have it all figured out. There are so many people, probably you for sure me, that say things that talk a big game that say they’re about it, but you can’t just say it.
31:01 You can’t just say you believe it. You need to live it. You need to live it at all costs. If you believe in it, if you truly believe in it, if you truly believe that it’s a good idea. If you truly want to go and do that at all costs, whatever it takes, you need to go and do that. And the reason, as I said that people are unable to do that is because they want to have it all figured out. We want to know what’s next because the unknown is scary. What did I say when I originally started this trip? I tried to have everything planned out. I tried to figure out what I was going to do with content. I’ve tried to figure out what I was gonna do with Instagram. I tried to figure out what I was gonna do with social media.
31:37 And it’s all totally different. And that just goes to show you that no matter how much you plan, everything’s going to change anyway and you’re going to figure it out. And I talked about this with having self confidence. When you have the self confidence in yourself to go, you know what? I’m going to figure it out when you’re going to say, you know what? And for me it’s give it to God, right? Having self confidence. Give it to God. Say, you know what, God, you’re going to give me the wisdom that I need. I’m gonna be able to figure this out. And when you trust your ability to go and do that, now you can take action without fear because you don’t need to have it all figured out. Because even if you did have it all figured out, it’s not going to be the same.
32:12 And so what I want to encourage you to do is let go of the unknown, let go of trying to have it all figured out. Let go of thinking that you need to know even the next step. All you need to know is what you need to work on now and whatever it is that you know you need to do, if you know you need to hire that coach, if you know you need to go out there and buy that course, if you know you need to go out there and quit doing or start doing whatever it is that you know you need to do it, then release all attachments of the results of what that will get and just say, what do I need to do now? What’s the first step that I need to take? What do I need to be focused on and trust in your ability to figure it out the next step and the next step and the next step, because you’re going to learn so much more at every step that what you thought was going to be step five by the time you get to step five will be laughable because you’re gonna be like, Oh, I thought I was so smart.
33:03 And then I learned and then I grew up and then I’m matured. Right? Because that’s what taking action does. It grows you and it teaches you so much. Why? Because the key to growth is change. And the key to change is action. So if you take action, you will grow. So how did I do this? How can you do this? And what are the five steps that you need to understand? Now I’m going to say these are not some five magical steps that, Oh my gosh, if you just follow these five things, your entire life will change. No, but they changed my life. And I truly believe that if you do follow these five things, your life will change. Not because it’s magic, not because it’s some secret formula that I came up with, but because it’s common sentence, because it’s proven to work. So the number one thing that you need to understand, and this is very important, okay, if you want to take action consistently in something and you want to actually make a lasting change, you need to intentionally pick one thing to focus on.
34:02 And one of the biggest issues and biggest mistakes that I see people make is they try to go and pick seven different things that they want to improve in because they want their life to change over the night overnight. And if they’re like, if I do all these seven things and I do them every single day, then I’m going to magically be better overnight. So how that works, you know how hard it is to do seven things. It’s really hard to do one thing much less seven. You’re never going to try to change or be successful in changing seven things at one time. You start with one. When I started running and I chose to do it every single day, I didn’t try to overcome everything. I didn’t try to change everything in my life. I didn’t try to start reading every single day, although I did do that eventually, I didn’t try to start eating healthy then I didn’t try to start waking up early then and you know, do seven, eight, eight, nine, 10 20 different things.
34:50 I said I’m going to go and I’m going to run every single day. Some days, I may wake up early, some days it may be in the afternoon, some days they may be in the evening, but I’m going to run every single day. And by being intentional about that, I ran every single day until I left on the world trip. Well maybe not like last week, but like 60 plus consecutive days without missing a day. And then dozens of days after that running every single day. And I had struggled my whole life to run consistently. And one day I just woke up and did it. How? Because everything else that I was trying to do, I said, Nope, I’m going to do one thing today. I’m going to make sure that I ran. And I went and I went to sleep and I woke up the next day and I said, I’ve got to run today. And if I got to the end of the day and I hadn’t run yet, I went out and ran.
35:30 It didn’t matter if it was weird or not, I just did it. And that’s what ultimately led me to be able to do it consistently. You have to pick one thing and that is step number one, focused on that one singular thing that you were going to do because putting your focus on that one thing will give you so much strength and power to be able to go and do that. Number two, I’ve kind of already alluded to it, but number two is just do that one thing every single day, every day. Don’t miss it at a, no matter what it takes, do it everyday or if it’s like a weekly thing, do it every single week, whatever it is that you’re trying to change every single day. I don’t care how weird it sounds, I don’t say how crazy it is. I remember one day, it was one o’clock in the morning, it was a really long day for me and I was going and I was laying down in bed.
36:16 It was one o’clock in the morning and I remember that I hadn’t ran that day and I got up, I put on my running shoes, I put on my running shorts, I walked outside, it did my stretches and I went for a run. Sounded crazy, but I did not miss that day. And when you just get into the mentality that it’s not an option on whether or not I do it today, I’m just going to do it today when you only have one thing, tying it with number one, when you only have one thing to focus on and do, guess what? You’re able to go and get that one thing done because you’re not focusing on 20 different things. You’re not going to make the excuse of like, Oh, I do like three of the four things I was supposed to I guess is good. No, you literally only have one thing to do every single day and you might think, Aw man, well this, Josh, this sounds so easy.
36:57 I can multitask and I can do more than that. Have you been able to? Nope. Okay. Well then just do the one thing, because I’m telling you, you have no idea how many mental roadblocks you’re going to get into and face when you just try to do one thing per day. But it’s amazing how many of those you can overcome and set yourself up for success in the future because you now know that you’ve been able to handle them in the past. Just when you focus on one thing. So first and foremost, be very intentional. Pick one thing that you’re gonna focus on that is it just one in one area. Then number two, go and do it every single day. Do not miss a day, ever. Just go and do it. All right? Number three, never stop doing that one thing, miss a day. Start right back up and do it again.
37:44 And the reason, and you’re going to say like, okay Josh, that’s kind of close to number two. Yes. But it’s a reminder to never stop doing that thing and do it over and over and over again. And if you miss a day, fine. Don’t stop and be like, Oh, I failed. Nope, just right back and do everything and just keep going and keep going and keep going and make it second nature. When you are just putting all of your time and effort and focus into one area, it is amazing the willpower you have that can push you through to go and make that a routine. All right, so start right back up. Never stop doing that thing and just continue to do it. There is um, a, a lesson that my mentor taught me. I also made a Facebook post about this as well. Cody near, we had him on the podcast recently.
38:26 He’s a business mentor of mine and he taught me something incredibly, incredibly important. I was at his house one time and we were sitting there and he said, Josh, you sell something today. And I was like, no, not yet. You know this. He’s like, you got to sell something every single day. I was like, what? He’s like, I sell something every single day. If you want to be successful, if you want to make money, you got to get into the habit of doing it every single day and not missing a day. And if you miss a day, the next day, work twice as hard to make twice the sales to make up for it every single day you’ve got to do this. Now that advice has stuck with me and every single day at the end of every single night, I always check to make sure that I’ve sold something that day. Do I miss some days? Yes I do.
39:08 I’m not perfect, but you better believe that an overwhelming amount of the majority of the days that I am alive and well, I am selling something that day. Even if it’s 30 bucks, even if it’s $10 whether it’s $10 or $10,000 I try to sell something every single day. Why? Because I am keeping a positive habit and a positive routine in the works. I don’t even have a set thing of like I have to do sell this certain thing or it has to be X number of dollars or it has to be before a certain time. None of that. I just say I have to do it every single day and I would say five days out of the week I sell something every single day. And that routine has served me very, very well because first off I was very intentional about that. One thing. I picked that one thing to focus on.
39:51 Number two, I did it every single day and the number three I never stopped and that has continued to serve me and that is like you find ways and I find ways to sell something when I haven’t sold something yet because I have made that commitment and then my brain gets creative and then I think about more things. Then I learned more things. It’s this constant evolution of getting better and better and better. So that’s number three. Never stop doing that one thing. If you miss a day, just start right back up. And then number four, scale up and add more things after at least 21 days. So the first time that you do this, and this was very true for me, I did not focus on anything else for the first three weeks, focusing on that one thing for at least three weeks. They say it takes 21 days to form a habit, right?
40:35 So some people say 67 days, Tai Lopez, 67 steps to where it really becomes a routine and part of your life. I say you can start adding things in in 21 it’s totally up to you, but wait at least three weeks before you try to add anything else in. Make sure that you can be consistent with it for 21 days, three consecutive weeks before you try to add anything else in there because then you know it’s going to be a routine and then you know you can actually stick with it. If you can’t do one thing consistently every single day for three weeks, don’t try to add in anything else. Stick with that one thing, only scale up and add more things after that. 21st day or after three consecutive weeks of doing it every single day. And that’s what’s ultimately going to help you do this. All right, now those are the first four.
41:15 I’m going to get to the fifth one here, but I want to recap real quick here. Imagine if you just did that. Think about it right now. Okay? Like you got to go and you’ve got to do the one thing that you know you need to do every single day. And if every single day, your only thing on the calendar, you made a commitment to say, I will not go to sleep until I did just this one thing. And you do that every single day. Imagine how much your life would change in the next three weeks, the next three months, the next year, the next three years. Imagine if your thing was running every day and you ran every single day for the next three years. Imagine what your life would, how different your life would be, or even three months. Imagine if you sold something every single day for three or I mean, uh, for three months, six months, a year.
41:59 Imagine if you made one Instagram post every single day for three years, or if you made one, whatever every single day for three years, imagine how much your life would change. Pretty incredible, right? All right, so that’s number four and the number five is cut out other things that are preventing you from doing that thing. So like I said, with the Facebook group, I’m focused on leverage points. The Facebook group is high leverage thing for me. It’s what I’m launching. It’s what I’m really, really believe is going to just change so many things and help so many people. And so I had to cut other things out to allow my time and allow my focus to go on that. That’s what I’m talking about here. What is our things? What are things that you can cut out in your life that will allow you to go and take action in that area?
42:49 Do you need to cancel Netflix or Hulu? Do you need to go and you know, stop eating out every day? Do you need to go and delete Facebook or Instagram off your phone and only checking on desktop? What’s the things that you need to cut out? There are sucking time that are sucking energy, that are sucking focus away, that you could definitely live without, would probably be healthy if you cut it out anyway. And uh, then use that time to go focus on whatever it is that you’re focusing on. Do that. So let’s recap the five things. Number one, pick one thing to focus on. That’s it. One thing, and go do that. Number two, just do that one thing every single day, no matter what at all costs. Do it. Even if it sounds crazy every single day, make sure that you do that.
43:31 Number three, never stopped doing that. One thing, if you miss a day or if you Slack, pick right back up where you left off. Don’t break the habit. Continue going. Even if you miss a day and then number four, scale up or add more things in after the 21st day or after. You can do it for three consecutive weeks without missing a single day. And number five, cut out things that are going to prevent you from doing that one thing that you need to do so that you can take that time and effort and put it into the thing that you know you need to do. You do those five things, I promise you, you can actually go and see results and see the results that you want. I would add a six story bonus one in there that you can also do that will help make it public.
44:13 This doesn’t help everybody. Some people, this isn’t for sometimes for me, it really helps making things public. Other times it hurts. Uh, you ultimately have to decide that. But if you don’t want to make it public, at least get an accountability partner that’s going to hold you to this because having it publicly stated or having an accountability partner will make it that much more real. If you just do it with yourself, it’s probably not going to happen. So having an accountability partner, make it public set of prize or an incentive for you to make sure it happens. You can be like J R Reavis and a, you can write a $5,000 check to the Klu Klux Klan in case a if you ever break your commitment. I’m not saying you have to go to that extreme, but if you want to hear more about that, you can check out Jr’s post on that.
44:51 I just thought it was pretty, pretty intense. I mean he went to extremes on that, but make it public or have someone help keep you accountable because that’s what’s ultimately going to get it done. All right guys, good episode.
