01:16 What’s up guys, welcome back to another episode of The Think Different Theory. My name is Josh Forti and we are on episode number 38. Welcome back to the program. Which means that since we’re on episode 38, we’re also on episode six of the mini-series, day six of the mini-series of creating your dream life, and I really I’m going to wrap it up here in this episode, because it is the last episode of the mini-series, and I would really appreciate your feedback, and encourage your feedback on this. 02:08 I would really appreciate that. That would mean the world to me, but I want to dive in, and really talk about kind of the future pacing this of what’s going to ultimately make this last, and make this successful, and ultimately build a brand, and build a message, and build a story around this. And, what’s going to ultimately help you push through the hard times, because we talked about what it takes. I laid down the framework, you know, and let’s just recap here. We started with, you know, belief, and I showed you why you have to believe it’s true. You believe it can happen. And I showed you why you should believe it, why it is possible. And, once you have the belief, the next step of that is really having clarity on what it is that you’re trying to build.
03:00 And so we talked about clarity in the immediate, and then clarity in the vision of the future. And, you need to test things. And, there’s no right or wrong place to start. You just start with something, whatever it is that you’re passionate about, you just go and you do that. You start there, and you start doing those things. And then, after that we talked about having to kill the old version of yourself and become the version of yourself that is capable of achieving that, and like really designing your dream life. And so now that you’ve actually gone out and tried different things, and figured out what it is that you want to do, the person that you have to become is the next thing in that sequence. So it’s like, “Okay, I’ve tested three, or four, or five different things now” and that might take a month, it might take two or three months, it might take you a year, but continue to test these things as you’re going out and deciding what your dream life ultimately is going to look like until you figure out what that is.
04:06 And then once you figure out what that is, design your life around that and really lay out what that dream life is, and then become the person that is needed to live that life, to create that life, and to have that life ongoing. And then, we talked about once you’ve identified what that is, there’s going to be skills that you need along the way. Skills for business, whether that’s in your job, or whether you start a side hustle, or whether you have a full out business, there’s going to be business skills that you need to learn, and then there’s life skills that you’re going to need to learn.
04:39 And, you know, determining those life skills can be difficult sometimes. Determining those business skills can be difficult sometimes, because so many people are out there trying to teach different skills, and it can feel overwhelming, and it’s like, “What skills do I learn? What skills do I actually need?” And so you broke down like, how to actually determine what those things are. And, all of these things came through my story, and I was like, you know, “Okay, this is what I did.” And, I showed you how I learned each one of these steps to the way, and I showed you that. And then, after we talked about the skills and learning about the skills that you need to learn, I laid out the road that lies ahead for you. And I let you know that this process of designing your dream life, it’s not going to be easy, because ultimately what it is is it’s killing your old self, and becoming a new person.
05:28 And when you kill your old self, that’s painful. And, becoming a new person involves growth, and growth is painful, but it’s going to be worth it when you get there. And so I laid out this framework, that is the framework to ultimately going out and creating your dream life. And I want to leave you with this, this last thought here, about what it’s going to take, and quite possibly the most important part of all of this. And that is, I want to talk to you about leading off with your purpose, and leading off with your why, and leading off with the reason behind why you’re doing all this. You see, when I first got started on this whole journey, there was a lot of different people that I was trying to follow. And, the story that I’m about to tell you is incredibly important, because this is true in all areas of life, in any business, in anything, whether it’s charity, whether it’s business, whether it’s a dream of yours, a passion project, it doesn’t matter.
06:25 Like, it all comes down to this fundamental of leading with your passion, leading with your purpose, and why you’re doing this, and ultimately your bigger reason behind this. And, my point in this story is to show you that people buy into you. They buy into the reason that you do it, not what you do. When I first got started in entrepreneurship, there was a lot of different options for me to choose from, when it came to who I learned from. There was Russell Brunson, there was Ryan Deiss, there was…, you know, a million different marketers and people out there that we’re trying to go, and…, you know, sell me something. Tai Lopez, Grant Cardone, Gary Vaynerchuk, all these different people, and all of them…, you know, were teaching either skill sets, and all of them had courses, and trainings, and different things that they were trying to sell and do.
07:14 And as I looked around at all the different people there, yeah, you know, there was a couple of people that got there first, but the first person that I ever…, you know, heard about in marketing that was trying to sell something, it was not the person that I ended up buying into. It’s not the person whose life I became a part of. It’s not that at all. And so, as I looked around, and as I studied it, and as I started getting further and further into this entrepreneurship game, I would try to try like different things. I’d be like, “Oh, this person is doing over this, and this person is doing over here, and oh, this person has this better, and this person has this better.” And then I realized the importance of just, you know, buying in and following one person. And we talked about that earlier.
07:52 And so when I was deciding who that person was going to be, I didn’t look at what they did. They all did the same thing. I didn’t look at even necessarily the results that they have. Like yeah, I made sure that they had results, but the results were less important than this other thing. And the thing that I looked at, was their person, the person that they were, why they did what they did, and the passion that they had behind what they were doing, the reason that they were doing what they were doing. And as I looked around at a bunch of different people that I could have followed, the person that stuck out to me most was Russell Brunson. And, his passion for making the world a better place. His passion for helping entrepreneurs get their message to the world. And, you know, when I’m at Funnel Hacking Live, this year, and last year, you know, he talks about how they’re raising money for OUR, and they do so much. OUR is a charity called “Operation Underground Railroad.” And they talk about, you know, saving these girls, and these kids from sex slavery, and they talk about making the world a better place, and his reasoning behind why he started ClickFunnels to help entrepreneurs get their message to the world. He led with his why. He led with his purpose. He led with his future-based cause of like, “This is why we do what we do on a daily basis.” Russell Brunson sells marketing just like everybody else. There’s nothing inherently special about what Russell Brunson teaches. Everybody else is teaching more or less the same stuff, just packaged up differently. So why is Russell Brunson been able to create such a raving fan base? Why do I follow him and really trust him in so many areas? It’s because he leads with his mission. He leads with his why, and because he’s genuinely a good person that is going out there and making the world better.
09:31 He’s leading with that purpose. Why do I have a fan base of people that will follow me no matter what I do? It’s because I lead with my purpose and my vision for the world, and what I’m trying to accomplish in life. My why, the reason that I do what I do, is to inspire people to break free and find their purpose, to know truth, and to define their own destiny, so they fall in love with life, and make the world a better place. I lead with that. And, I just go, “This is why I do what I do.” And so, that has garnished me and gotten me a following of people that have allowed me to live my dream life, that buy into that vision. There are other people that teach personal branding and mindset better than I do. So why do people follow me?
10:18 I’m not the best in the world at it. So why do people follow me? Because they buy into my vision, and they buy into who I am and what I stand for, and that’s what they’re gonna do for you. They’re going to buy into why you do what you do. And when you lead with your purpose, and when you lead with your vision, yeah, it’s not the most clickbaity thing in the world. It’s not going to get you the most clicks, the most…, you know, drive the most sales at the beginning, but it’s what’s going to be sustainable long term. And when you design the life of your dreams, you’ve got to really have a purpose and a vision behind why you want that, and you share that with the world. And whether that’s, “Hey, my vision is to give my kids their dream life, or to be the father or the mother that, you know, my kids would be proud of.”
11:07 If that’s your reasoning behind it, share that. If your vision is a bigger vision than that, to…, you know, go and really change the world, like mine is, then go and share that. But no matter what it is, the thing that people are going to buy into, the thing that’s going to make your dream life sustainable, your business, your career, your passion, stick around for years, and years, and years, and even generations to come, is leading with that vision. And so as I sat there and I looked around at all the different people that I could learn from, I looked at everyone and I went, “Who do I want to become most like? Whose vision, whose mission, whose purpose can I buy into?” And I looked at it and I went, “Do I want to buy into a Tai Lopez life? Do I want to buy into a Grant Cardone life? Do I want to buy into like, what life do I want to live into?”
11:56 And I’m not bashing any of those people, but the vision and the mission that stood out with me, or to me more than anybody else’s was Russell’s, and the mission of ClickFunnels, and what they’re doing. And it’s incredible, because they’re leading with that mission. They’re being that example. They have that. And you look at this from the smallest scales like, you know, me…, I’m pretty small in the grand scheme of things. It’s working for me. And then you look at like, in the middle, you look at like, the ClickFunnels of the world. It works for them. They’re leading with their mission. They are leading with their vision, and they’re pushing that forward. And that has gotten them to be where they’re at today. Or you look at even the biggest people in the world, or the biggest companies in the world like, Apple, and they’re leading with their mission of thinking different and challenging the status quo.
12:43 People buy into that. Apple doesn’t make the greatest computers and software, and hardware all the time. Their products are amazing and they’re some of the best, but there are other computers out there that are more powerful. There are other phones out there that have more features, and can do things better. There are other things that are…, you know, things that are cheaper, or better priced, or you know, a lot of different things. So how is Apple, Apple? It’s Apple because they lead with their vision, they lead with their mission, they lead with their passion. I’m Josh Forti because I lead with my passion of making the world a better place. And so guess what? The number one thing that I want people to remember me for, is not personal branding. It’s not mindset. It’s not social media or Instagram. It’s not how to make money. The thing that I want people to remember me for, is that I have an overwhelming desire and an overwhelming passion to make the world a better place, and to help them get to where they want to be in life, and to bring glory and honor to God.
13:40 Why? Because that’s what it is that defines me, and that’s what I’m all about. And what I do, is simply my vehicle for making that thing happen, is simply the way that I’m choosing to go about achieving those goals and dreams. It’s not the reason that I do it, because guess what? If I tried to compete solely on personal branding, or social media, or mindset alone, I would lose to so many people. Why? Because I’m not the best in the world. Just like when you’re getting started right now, you may be having some feelings of self doubt, just like I did when I got started off like, “Am I good enough? Why would somebody listen to me?” Why would somebody learn whatever skill that you’re trying to possess, and whatever problem you’re trying to solve, why would they go to you versus somebody else? Well, they would go to you versus somebody else because of your story, because of your mission, because of your goal and your purpose in the world.
14:33 It’s not because you’re going to be the best at something. That’s never the reason that you’re going to create a mass audience, or a mass movement, or a purpose that lives beyond you. And a sustainable lifestyle, sustainable dream life. There’s gotta be a reason and a purpose behind it, because that’s what people buy into. Everything else is going to go by the wayside, but things like that is what’s going to stick around. And so I want to really encourage you, as you’re going through, and as you are becoming this new person, and as you are designing this dream life that you’re going to ultimately go, and build into. First think about, “Okay, why am I doing this?” Because that’s the thing that’s going to get you through the hard times.
15:15 They’re going to be days when you want to quit. They’re going to be days when you go, “I don’t know about all this.” There are going to be days when you’re so overwhelmed and confused. They’re going to be days when the noise and the doubters, and the haters are going to be so loud, and you’re going to be wondering if it’s all worth it, but guess what? When you come back to your why, when you come back to your purpose, when you come back to your mission, when you remember why you started, and why you’re doing this in the first place, number one; that’s going to keep you going. Number two; that’s what’s going to keep other people going and buying into you, and number three; that’s what’s inspirational. That’s what’s going to get like, people fired up to listen to you. Not because you know some tactic better than someone else.
15:51 You don’t listen to me because I have the best advice all the time. You listen to me, because I have purpose and passion behind what it is that I’m trying to do and trying to accomplish, and that I’m not going to stop until I actually can go out to the world and spread that message to everyone, and help make the world better. And that’s why I do what I do. And that’s what you need to identify and determine as well. And remember, and this is so important, when you’re figuring out why you do what you do, and your purpose, and your passion, and your mission, it has nothing to do with what you do. So, if I were to ask you and say, “Hey look, Mr so and so like, why do you do all this? What’s your purpose? What’s your passion? What’s your why?”
16:34 And you were to tell me, “Well, my why is to…, you know, better run Facebook ads for the whole world.” That’s not your why. That’s your…, it’s your how and your what, right? Like Facebook ads is not a why, marketing is not a why. That’s a how or a what. Your why is the actual reason and purpose behind doing what it is that you’re doing, and you’ve got to lead with that. And when you do that, and when you lead with an amazing…, you know, a story that portrays that, and when you really connect with people emotionally, that’s what’s going to ultimately drive that forward. And how you go and make these things happen. How you go and make that why happen, is you kill the version of yourself that is not capable of achieving that why, and you evolve and become the person that is.
17:23 The reason I tell you my stories of my hardships. The reason that I tell you about the times when I was so confused. The reason that I tell you about my failures and my successes, is because at the end of the day, I believe those are the things that are going to best portray why I do what I do. Those are the things that I believe are going to connect with you. Those are the things that are going to get you to buy into me, and my vision, and my passion, and ultimately my drive and desire to make the world a better place. I could have the best personal branding course on the planet, but that doesn’t mean people are going to buy into it, because they buy into my story. And so think about your story. Think about your why. Think about your vision, your mission, and why you do what you do for the future and share that with people.
18:07 Yes. It’s going to feel weird. Yes. At first, you’re going to feel like, “Nobody cares about this. This is just awkward. This is weird. Nobody does this.” I will tell you, it’s going to be the most rewarding thing you can possibly do. You’re going to think that people aren’t interested, and at the beginning, maybe nobody will be, but when you continue to share it, and when you continue to be passionate about it, there’s going to be people out there that relate to that, and you’ve got to learn to talk in their voice. You got to learn to connect with them. And you have to learn to share that with them, and get them to buy into that, because when you do, the rest will change. And I remember, I’ll never forget this day, and I’m going to leave you with this story.
18:49 I’ve always had a heart to help people. I’ve always wanted to make the world better. And, I’ve gone out, and you know, I’ve really like dedicated my life to becoming the best version of myself, so that I can share that with others, so that I can help others achieve their dreams, and I can help others go and make the world a better place. And I remember, one day I was sitting there, and it was a rough day for me. It was one of those days where I’m like, you know, “Is it all worth it?” It…, and I wasn’t necessarily thinking about quitting per se, but it was just a hard mental day. And this would have been about, probably two years ago. It was back when I still had my Instagram, a company with my business partner. And, we had just gone through…, recently had done like the webinar that had just failed and flopped.
19:35 So that was still kind of a sore spot. And, we got an email from a gentleman, I don’t remember his name, but he said, “Oh guys. I just want to thank you so much, because the trainings that you guys have put out, the information that you have helped me learn, the skills that you have helped me acquire, allowed me not to get evicted over Christmas with my family. And I have…” I think it was like two or three…, it’s either two or three daughters, “that we’re not going to have a place to stay, but because I listened to you guys, and because I learned the skills that you guys are teaching, I was able to go take that and sell that to people, and get a client to be able to pay my bills so that I had a house for Christmas. And the reason that I listened to you guys is because I resonated with your message, and I resonated with your story, and I resonated with your purpose, and I just wanted to let you know like, I am a living, breathing example of you making the world better ultimately, right?
20:43 Like, of your stuff working”. And I remember reading that with like tears coming to my eyes, because I was like, “Oh, my gosh, like this stuff actually works. Like, we’re actually doing it. We’re actually making the world better. We’re actually helping people” And oftentimes it’s hard to remember that, and it’s hard to see that until you take a step back, and until you get messages like that. And that’s why like, when I ask you guys for messages and feedback, I want to know where I can help you best, because I want to get messages like that. It’s like things like that that drive me forward. And like he said, the reason that he bought in was not because we were the best at teaching Instagram, but because he resonated with our stories and because he resonated with our purpose, and our vision, and our goal of making the world better, and what we were doing there.
21:24 And so I really wanna encourage you to lead with this. It will make your life more fulfilled and it will make your dream life more sustainable as you go through this process. Alright? Alright. That’s what I have to leave you with. It’s been a fun six episodes guys. It really has. I really hope this helped.
