EPISODE TRANSCRIPT:

00          I’m not even kidding you. If you invest money into this right now, in like two or three years, you could be a millionaire. Like I’m… a lot of people exaggerate things and like…, like to sell hype and all that jazz, but I’m not… like I’m not hyping it. I’m not trying to be over the top with it or whatever. I’m serious and I have invested a bunch of money into it. If you invest into this now, it will pay off so big in future years.

33          You are now entering a new paradigm.

33          So, here’s my issue. I wanted to find the answers to life’s biggest questions. Things like, how do I become happy and live with purpose? How do I make more money doing what I love, and what does it mean to be truly successful in all areas of life? My name is Josh Forti, @JoshForti on Instagram, and I ask life’s biggest questions and share the answers with you. My goal is to help you find purpose, happiness, and open your mind to new realms of possibility by helping you think differently about everything you do, know, and understand. On this podcast, we think different, we dream bigger, and we live in a world without limits. This is a new paradigm. Welcome to The Think Different Theory.

15          What’s going on guys? Welcome back to another episode of The Think Different Theory. My name is Josh Forti, and we are on episode number 52. Welcome back to the program. Exciting episode today! In fact, if you heard the teaser episode, you’re probably like, “Okay, Josh. Well, what the heck are you talking about?” Because, that was an enticing headline, so what do we got going on here today?” I’m very excited about it. So, as you guys know, I am big into entrepreneurship. I’m big into success and oftentimes something that comes with success, is monetary success or financial success, in the money realm… you know, there’s different realms of success. There’s money success or health success, there’s wealth success, there’s relationship success. There are all sorts of different types of success, but one of the things that… you know, I am building right now is my wealth success category, building a business, getting more money coming in or whatnot.

12          And, I’ve played around with different types of investments, right? I’ve bought into some cryptocurrency. I actually bought into a couple of stocks, a while back. I didn’t do so well in that, actually lost a couple of hundred bucks, I think. And I’ve invested in Facebook ads or funnels, and yadda, yadda, yadda, whatever, but I have found this investment that is way better than Bitcoin, way better than any stock, or company, or whatever that you can invest into. And, quite frankly, if you invest in this today you could be a millionaire in two to three years. And I’m not being sarcastic. Now, not everybody will, because it requires more than just, you know, a couple of bucks. Right? I mean, there’s definitely an investment that goes it, but at the current rate of return that I’ve seen it for me, yeah, 100%, a couple of years from now, I plan on being a millionaire because of it. And I’m very, very excited to share that with you because I believe this thing can change so many people’s lives.

13          And… you know, here’s the crazy part. The fact of the matter is, this has been around for years. And, it’s crazy how many people don’t understand that if they invest in this, they could go out and make millions of dollars, or have any amount of success that they want in any field that they want. So you might be wondering right now, maybe you’ve already figured it out, but you might be wondering what in the heck that investment is? Well, the investment that I’m talking about today is investing in yourself, and investing in myself. Now, before you’re like, “Okay, Josh. Way to click bait me, wait to get me to listen this far.” Like, hear me out here. Okay? I actually genuinely, sincerely believe this, and I believe this because I know it to be true in my own life. Alright? So, back prior to me ever investing a dime into myself, before I ever bought a course, before I ever bought into a mentorship program, a coaching program, anything like, you name it, I barely made any money whatsoever.

15          You know, I was making $20,000 a year, if that, you know what… probably two grand a month. And some months not even that. So like 20ish thousand on average a year, is what I was making. I had no following. I had no success. I had no understanding of the marketplace. I had no understanding of marketing, or social media, or sales, or anything like that. I was not skilled at all. In the last three years since I started investing into myself, and since I have been investing into entrepreneurship, I tallied up, it has been over $100,000 that I have committed to and invested into my future of personal development and business self. Alright? Now think about that. In the last three years, mind you, when I got started, I was so freaking broke. Alright? Like, I was living paycheck to paycheck, scraping by, driving for Uber, flipping stuff on Craigslist to try to…, you know, like invest into things and to get into things.

10          And the first book I ever read was Rich Dad, Poor Dad. The first business book I ever read. Actually, the first book I ever read outside of school that wasn’t required of me, was Rich Dad, Poor Dad. Alright? And since then, I have bought into countless courses, masterminds, coaching programs, mentorships, from Sam Ovens, to Russell Brunson, to Steve Larson, to people that you’ve never even heard of before. Books, attended live events, 10X Growth Con, Funnel Hacking Live, network marketing events, normal events, networking, like just…, everything you could possibly think of. I created this hunger and this thirst for investing in myself and becoming better. And it used to scare the crap out of me, but you have to understand, my first investment was a $20 book, and then that $20 book led into $1,000 course. And then that led into a $5,000 coaching program. And mind you, I spent my first six grand, $6,000, which was life-changing amounts of money for me.

06          Like, I didn’t make six grand in three months. Alright? So like, I spent six grand into these things in the first six or seven months. As soon as I had the money, I would invest it back into myself. Like, the second I had it. Boom! Put it into the next thing that was going to make me better. And when I did that, I remember about…, I’ll tell you the story. The first course I ever bought into…, alright?, was an Instagram course. And I saved up money for that for the longest…, I mean like, I went and I ended up buying it on a credit card, and I went and had to drive for Uber, and flip stuff on Craigslist to pay the remaining balance of it, like crazy stuff like that. And, for the coaching program that I bought into from this guy, which didn’t even go…, like he did not fulfill his end whatsoever.

01          I don’t want to call it a scam, but like, he did not deliver anything upon which it was promised for, but I learned a great deal through that experience, and I did learn valuable lessons that have helped me tremendously down the road, more mindset probably than anything else in that one. It was five grand. I didn’t have five grand. I had three grand. Okay? $3,000 is all I had, and I gave him the $3,000 down payment just to get enrolled. And then I…., I had no savings after that. I lived by myself. I had responsibilities. I had bills coming up, and I didn’t make the $2,000, or whatever the remaining payment was. And I came up with ways to come up with that money, as I went…, and I applied, and I applied, and I learned, and I learned, and I applied, and I learned, as much as I possibly could.

44          And those investments have yielded higher than anything else, higher than any Bitcoin or cryptocurrency. Higher than any Facebook ad, higher than any funnel, higher than any stock, higher than anything. I invested in myself. Why? Because I am working on something that can’t be taken away from me, which is my mind. Well, I mean, it can with sickness, but that’s why you protect your mind, and you stay healthy, but your mind and your mindset, and your knowledge and information, those are things that are going to be with you for the rest of your life, and what I’ve learned about mindset, and what I’ve learned about investing in yourself, which is absolutely fascinating to me, and I did not understand this at all. When I first went and got started in investing in myself, was a large a majority, of what you invest in, when you invest in a course, or a coaching program, or a mentor, or whatever, a large majority of that, you are not going to see the results from, when you first get started or even after you’ve gone through and applied what you think you’ve learned from that training.

54          I know that there have been times when I’ve spent $15,000 or $20,000 on something, and I did not see the results from that for a year, or two years even. And it will…, it’s still teaching me things. And I imagine, five years from now, I’m going to look back at things that I learned in there and go, “Oh, I cannot believe how much that taught me.” You cannot possibly even fathom or understand, what that’s…, like what it will do for your life, and how exponentially it will affect you later on, when you’re investing in yourself, because you don’t know the experiences that lie ahead, and you don’t know the connections that you’re going to make. And you don’t know how all those little pieces are gonna fit together down the road, but we just did…, an episode, the last episode we talked about habits, and we talked about how little habits and little things, lead to bigger things and lead to shaping the entirety of your life.

52          Well, guess what? When you invest in yourself, you’re making a good decision, and you’re making a good decision that is going to exponentially compound in a good direction if you follow through, and learn and apply. Now, just because you invested $5,000 into something, and you did zero work, you didn’t watch any of the videos, you didn’t do any of that, that’s not what I’m talking about, but if you invest into something and you follow through, even if it’s not the most well put together thing. Like I’ve taken some programs, and gone through some coaching and stuff, where it’s like, “Hey, it could be better.” Right? It was all right, but I learned a nugget, here or there, or you know, it gave me the confidence somewhere else. I can’t tell you how many times that I’ve bought into a course, and I’ve gone through it, and I watched so many people get amazing results, and I’m like, “This course is not mind-blowing. Like there’s not that much great information in here”, but it’s the right information and people are getting amazing results.

45          And that gave me the confidence to go out and do something that I was scared to do, because I watched somebody else that I thought had it all together, put together something that wasn’t as great as I thought it was going to be, but it turned out to be absolutely amazing, because it was the right information, and you learn so much along the way of like how things work, and your brain just soaks up information, and it stores things, and your subconscious soaks up things. And I remember, I used to have no concept of how this worked. Right? When I first heard about the concept of like, “Oh, your mindset is what makes you successful.” I remember sitting there thinking, “Okay, like right now”, and this is back what, three and a half, four years ago, when this was, like right now, I am driving a red…, I think it was a 2004 so like a 15-year-old car now.

36          So, a 2004 Grand AM, or there wasn’t Grand AM, but yeah, it was a Grand AM, with my window, that doesn’t roll up and down. So it was like, literally taped up. Like, I had to tape it up with duct tape in the window, and I was making $540 a week, trying to find a better job so that I could save a little bit more money. Counted outgoing, “Okay, if I put aside $50 from each paycheck, then I would have $200 a month”, and I couldn’t even afford that, because I like had to pay bills, and so I’m sitting there and I’m like, “How does…, like how is that going to affect like, how is my mindset going to change my situation? like how does fit…?” I thought I had a pretty good mindset back then. I didn’t even know what I didn’t know, and I didn’t understand how like, investing in myself was going to make a difference.

41          And the crazy part is, is that like, it’s this kind of loop where, the people at the bottom, the people that don’t have the information, the people that don’t understand, and don’t have the money, they doubt the process, and they don’t trust the people that are telling them like, “Hey, invest in yourself. Fix your mindset. That’s the thing that’s ultimately going to make you successful”, because that sounds cheesy, or it sounds like, “Oh yeah, of course, you’re going to say that, because that’s what is gonna make you the most money”, yadda, yadda, yadda. So they’re naturally skeptical. As was I. Right? And so, I’m sitting there, I’m like, “Are you…, like how does that work? Like, how am I going to get past this just by investing in myself, and like, what do you even mean?” And so, they don’t want to take that risk, because it’s scary, and because it’s unknown, and because they don’t understand how that’s actually going to affect them.

32          And so, then they go and they stay stuck for the rest of their life, because they’re afraid to make that…, to take that risk, to make that investment, to invest into themselves, to invest into their mindset, to cut out habits that they don’t understand, how doing that is going to change their life. And then, they are just stuck there forever. Well, I was fortunate enough to understand that I needed to invest in myself, and really for me, it wasn’t even so much as the importance of, like me understanding that I needed to invest in myself, it was me being absolutely desperate to change my reality. It was me being absolutely desperate, like I had to get something done, like something had to change. I hated my life. I did not like where I was, and it was constantly like…, “I’ve got to get better, got to get better, got to get better, got to get better.”

18          I didn’t know what that looked like. I didn’t know how I was going to do it, but I was just starving. And they say, there are two things that make someone change; inspiration or desperation, and back then, it was desperation. Alright? Now it’s a little bit more inspiration, and I’m not desperate anymore for things, but it was…, you know, now it’s more inspiration, but back then it was like, this desperation. Well, here’s the thing, what I see so many people do, and this is very common I think, in the Internet marketing, and the entrepreneurship space. And, it was true for me for a long time too, after I reached that next level, was they invest in themselves to a certain degree, and then they see this level of success, and they stop investing in themselves, because they get cocky, or arrogant, or they think they have, like they know it all, or they don’t think they need any more information, or whatever, or what have you.

10          The fact of the matter is, that you might buy tons and tons of information. I bought so many courses and things that I’ve never even used or looked at. I’ve only utilized a small amount of the actual information that I’ve bought, but that information, that knowledge has done a compound effect on me, to where I’ve gotten so much smarter, and I’ve gotten better at figuring out what information I need, and what information I don’t need. See, the thing at the beginning, if you’re just getting started, is you’ve just got to start. You just got to go out there and make that leap of faith. You’ve got to go all in, you’ve got to invest in yourself. It’s going to pay to keep some balance as it did for me. Like, I didn’t see the results from my investment for over seven months, and I’m talking like financial results. And this was a course that was supposed to teach me things relatively right away.

04          It took me seven months before I saw results. And even then, it wasn’t crazy, like I hadn’t even made my money back yet, but it gave me the understanding, and the knowledge and the confidence to go out and continue doing. But then I got to a certain level in my life, where I thought I had made it. Right? I was making 10,000 bucks a month. Right? Chilling. And I was like, “Man, balling out. Woopty doo. Woohoo.” Right? $10,000 a month in my business, which is like what? After taxes and expenses, probably five g’s. Like not even that much. And I stopped investing in myself, and I hit this plateau in my life, where I thought I had it figured out, or I thought I was entitled to free information, or I thought I could figure out by just being associated with the right people, and not making an investment.

48          And you know what’s crazy, is that information alone will not save you. There is an actual, and this is like scientifically proven, over and over and over again, but I’m gonna tell you the story that I heard from Russell Brunson on this. Information alone is not going to save you. Investment into information is what’s actually going to get you to commit. And so, Russell Brunson tells the story, which I think is fascinating, and I’ve seen this true in my own students. Russell told the story how he was putting on this super high-level mastermind. I think it was…, I don’t remember the exact amount. I think it was 25 grand. It might not have been that, so don’t like, don’t quote me on it, but I know it was tens of thousands of dollars. And, I think he only sold like three tickets to the event. And so, he was embarrassed, and so, he went and he asked like his friends, some of his entrepreneur friends to come, and he was like, “Listen, you can come to the event”,

37          I think it was like seven or eight of them. He’s like, “You can come. Just don’t tell anybody that you didn’t pay for it. Like, act as you paid for it because I don’t want these other people that actually paid for it, to…, you know, to be like, What the heck man?” And so, they showed up to this event. They went through. And, he gave them all the information. Now, all…, and I’m just going to use easy numbers. I think it was 10 people. All 10 people, in that room, that spent the $25,000, or three of them spent $25,000 to be there, and the other seven didn’t. They all got the exact same information, but guess who actually went out, and had success, guess who actually went out and implemented, and saw a positive ROI in their business. The people that spent the $25,000. So, information alone is not going to save you.

20          And so, when I started making more money and hanging out with higher level people, and getting around higher level thinkers, guess what happened? I got access to more and more information, a lot of it for free. Guess what I didn’t do? I didn’t apply it. I felt like I was entitled. And so, it wasn’t until I went and started investing again into myself, and I bought another course, and then I went to a mastermind, and then I bought Dan Henry’s sold out courses, and then I went and got Sam Oven’s stuff, and I started investing. I mean like, a thousand there…, I think what? Dan Henry’s was like, five g’s. Sam’s was two thousand, five thousand, and thirty thousand, like tens of thousands of dollars, guys. Like I’m not talking like, a couple of hundred bucks here and there. I went and invested all in, and I started doing that when I didn’t have any money.

04          I started doing that when I was down to my last penny, and it created this ripple effect on my life, and led me to where I’m at today. And so that’s why I’m telling you this, is to say, “Listen. Investing in yourself is the best thing you can possibly do.” I live the life that I do today, have the financial freedom that I have today, get to do what I love on a daily basis, get to hang out with some of the coolest people on the planet, like I’m so blessed to be able to do these things, not because I’m so great, not because I’m better than anybody else, but because somehow, some way, I figured out that I needed to invest in myself, and I took action in doing that, and I invested, and then I went and applied. I invested and I applied, and I kept doing that, over and over and over again, and I still haven’t stopped.

51          It’s why I’m so stoked to invest into…, like I was so excited to go invest into Sam Oven’s mastermind. Like I’m in a $30,000 commitment. Why? Why was I so confident to do that? And I would have been confident even if I didn’t have the money in the bank. Why? Because I know that it’s a proven system. I know that what he’s going to teach me, is going to be invaluable for years, and years and years. And, the fact of the matter is, most of you listening to this right now, if you were to make a thousand dollar investment into something, or a $2,000 investment into something, and let’s pretend, that you lost that $2,000 entirely, and you didn’t see that $2,000 return on investment for three years from now, most of you, your life would not change at all, whatsoever, if you were to spend $2,000 into something, and it completely failed. It wouldn’t change her life at all.

43          Yeah, you might have $2,000 less in savings, but most of you, and I would venture to say, all of you, because I know this is true for me. Listening right now, if you were to make a $2,000 investment into something, or a thousand dollar, or a five thousand dollar investment into something, and you were to apply everything that you learned, it would fundamentally change your life forever. It would change your business, it would change your mindset, it would change your health, it would change…, whatever that thing is that you’ve invested in, it would change your life. And so, I want to encourage you, the next time when you’re faced with an opportunity, when you go, “Man, this is a 1,000 bucks. It’s scary. $2,000, it’s scary.” Five thousand, ten thousand, whatever that number is, it’s scary. Or 500, or a hundred, whatever it is where you’re at. It’s a scary number to you. You’re scared, you’re unsure.

33          I want you to take a step back and go, “If I apply everything, or even half of the things that are in what I’m about to invest in, be it coaching, mentorship, a mastermind, whatever it is, could this change my life? Could this make my life better?” And if the answer is yes, do it. Do it. Take the leap of faith. Go and invest in yourself, and watch you change…., sorry, watch your life change forever. And watch you looking back in a year from now, two years from now, five years from now, going, “Wow! I am so glad I made that investment.” You guys have heard me tell the story about the the webinar failure. If you haven’t, go back and listen to it, it’s on the episode about my biggest failures in life, back in…, I think is the first 10 or 12 episodes I did.

21          But we invested, we signed a $30,000 contract, put $15,000 out on the line, made $1,000 back from it. It was a complete, utter epic fail. It was absolutely awful. It was the worst day of my life, I was out 15 grand, made nobody back, lost money, almost bankrupt, like literally almost ran out of money, and had to go back and get a job. And guess what? I look back at that now, and I go, “I am so glad I made that mistake. I am so glad I made that investment, because I learned something through it. Because I put my blood, sweat and tears, and all of my heart and effort into that, and I learned through it.” And that is the power of an investment. That is the power of investment into yourself, because you’re going to go out there, and you’re going to see an exponential effect. Not in a day from now, but a month, six months, a year, two, five, ten, twenty years from now, you’re going to look back and look at all the different things that you learned.

09          That’s why whenever someone’s like, “Oh man. Is this book really worth $20?” I’m like…, I don’t think there’s a single business book in the world, that is proven to be a good book, that isn’t worth 20 bucks?” Like, are you kidding me? Like something by Russell Brunson, or Tony Robbins, or you know, anyone? Of course, it’s worth it. Why? Because the information in that book can change your life. The information in that course can change your life. And when you let it do that, and when you apply it, it will seriously change your life forever. I plan to be a millionaire within the next two or three years. Alright? And I’m not like, rushing super, super hard into it. That’s going to be the by-product of my work, and my efforts. We’re going to do over $1 million this year in our company, or we’re on track to. I can’t guarantee it.

54          Why? Because I chose way back in the day to invest in myself. I chose to bet on me. And you can choose to bet on you right now, and if you’ve never bet on yourself before, now’s the time to make that bet. Now’s the time to make that action. And if you have bet on yourself before, and you’ve seen results from it, and now you’re stuck, and now you’re afraid to…, you know, invest again, or you feel entitled, like I did, or you feel like you shouldn’t have to invest in it, because you’re quote, too cool, like I felt. Get out of your head, put your ego to bed, and now’s the time to make a difference, and invest in yourself again. Spend that two grand, spend that thousand, that 500, that 10,000, whatever it is, and go out and make the world a better place with it.

44          Create impact. Change your life forever. That is the power of investing in yourself. It is a compound effect that will pay off more than your wildest dream can ever imagine. Alright guys, as I wrap up this episode, I really hope this was helpful. I really hope this was beneficial. Please. If this was, let me know. I want to know, your best investment story ever.
